Importance This site and the associated book has become increasingly important given Sun's recent announcement that it would be open sourcing the core components of the Sun Java System Web Server 7.0 and Sun Java System Web Proxy technologies. On July 23rd, 2008 Sun announced that it would open source these products under a BSD (Berkeley Software Distribution) license in the Web Stack sub-project of the OpenSolaris community. The Web and Proxy source code will be available in CY08Q3. (See press release here). |
